I'm back.  I haven't used this thing for months.  I haven't stopped running and probably never will.  I had some knee trouble last year and just got a little sick of reading my poor results.  My knee isn't perfect but its working pretty well.  I seems to have been some sort of tendonitis.  I just have to give my body little breaks to recover now.

Early this summer, I ran the Wasatch Steeplechase.  It's probably the most fun race I've ever found.  It's not exactly a race for speed but it is an amazing experience that I think every runner should try at least once.  There is an award for the most bloodshed.

Anyway, I have shifted my training focus.  I've become pretty slow in recent years and have had little competitive umph at the end of races.  Something I haven't done in years is go sub-5 minutes in a mile.  At one time, sub-4:40 wasn't too hard - it's very hard now!  Anyway, I want to go sub-5 again.  Once I've achieved this goal, I'll start building up distance and ultimately run a sub-3 hour marathon again I suppose.  I have to admit that marathons have lost my interest recently but my running interests change all the time.

So todays workout was fun, despite being on a treadmill at work.  I started out pretty stiff and slow and after 15 minutes I had only gone about 1.5 miles.  I decided at that point that it would be a fun challenge to catch Mr. 7:30 mile man.  By this point, he had a 1/2 mile lead on me.  My goal was to catch him by mile 6.  It was a challenge.  I had to drop mile 3 down to a 6:30 or so pace to get me within any remote chance of catching him.  My last 3 miles varied but averaged just a bit below 7 if I remember right.  Anyway, I caught him at the end and beat him to mile 6 by 15 seconds.  It was fun.

Anyway, I guess I'll enter yesterdays workout too.
